Book-loving pupils at an Alsager school are getting a new-look library area and new books – thanks to kind-hearted teachers, parents and guardians.
The parent and teacher association (PTA) at Pikemere School in Pikemere Road launched a book drive for books to be donated.
Around 90 book donations were received from the book drive, with donations coming from teachers and parents and guardians.
The PTA also used funds to purchase books from a 'wish list' and now the organisation is appealing for the next stage of the project – storage.
They are asking for donations of unwanted bookcases or book stands at childrens' height to complete the project.
Sarah Dennison, PTA secretary said: "We had a great response from the book drive but now we need bookcases or book stands to put the books on.
"We're looking for Ikea bookcases/Kallax units and some book stands to create a library area for the children and would welcome any donations."
Headteacher, Anthony Hughes said: "Reading is at the core of our curriculum. It unlocks every other aspect of learning and is crucial to a child's development."
"Our children have shared that they love to read. We would love to have a central space in school where children can go and snuggle up with a book or talk to others about books that they enjoy.
"We want to spread the love of reading across our whole school."
One pupil commented: "I like reading because it helps us to relax and take our mind away from the real world.
"It would be really good to have a place in school where we can go and just read."
Anyone with storage donations can contact Pikemere PTA by email - [email protected]
