A business on the outskirts of Alsager has been given the go-ahead to turn a building into a padel court and storage.

Alsager and Sandbach Saddlery at Day Green Farm in Hassall Road, Day Green, Hassall applied to Cheshire East Council to change the use of a building from storage use to a padel court and storage.

Planners have given the greenlight to the plan here

The application stated: "The site is located within the open countryside. The site currently consists of the house, a saddlery and retail shop and a range of buildings which are used for either domestic or personal equestrian purposes.

" ... the partial change of use of the building to accommodate a single padel tennis court would be an acceptable form of development in the open countryside and would be in-keeping with the character of the site which is already partially in a commercial use.

"the proposal would not result in any harm to the amenity of neighbouring properties. There are sufficient parking spaces to serve the existing shop and the proposed development.

"The proposal would be a sustainable form of development that would comply with policies set out in the development plan and The Framework."

Alsager and Sandbach Saddlery at Day Green Farm has three years to complete the change of use under the current approval.
