It's the annual Alsager 5 road race this weekend - the first event of the season for many local runners.
Alsager 5 competitors will take to the town's streets on Sunday (February 4th) for what is the first race of the season for the North Staffordshire Road Runners Association (NSRRA).
Last year, twenty-five marshals, 10 traffic management people and 25 helpers made sure the five-mile race ran to clockwork.
The Alsager 5 mile race started in 1985 and was called the Butters 5 but is now called Alsager 5 and is always held on the first Sunday in February.
The race stills starts and finishes at the Alsager Leisure Centre. The number of entries has grown and grown and there is now a 1000 limit.
This race not only attracts local runners but also runners from outside the area, many travelling far and wide to take part.
The race starts at 11 am and several roads are closed from 10.50 am until around 12.15 pm when the race finishes.
A spokesperson said: "We rely on the goodwill of residents and businesses to put on a local community event that encourages good health and well-being.
"A rolling road closure system operates meaning that as soon as the last runner passes through the road is reopened."
Good luck to all those runners taking part!
