A Cheshire East-owned play area in front of the Cedars Medical Centre and Mere Park Medical Centre in Alsager is "safe to use".

A resident, who didn't want to be named, contacted Alsager Nub News saying she was concerned about the "unkempt" state of the play area.

"It looks unkempt and I would think twice about taking my child there. Surely it should be better looked after?"

Now Cheshire East Council has asked residents to contact them directly with any concerns about the play area in Sandbach Road South.

Councillor David Jefferay, Cheshire East Council's cabinet member for environment, sustainability and waste management, said: "The play area is inspected five times each year, which includes an independent annual inspection.

"Recent inspections have identified a small number of low-risk maintenance issues, but the site remains safe for use and there are no defects requiring urgent repair.

"As with all council-owned play areas, maintenance work is prioritised based on safety risk, and any necessary repairs are scheduled accordingly.

"We would be pleased to speak with local residents to better understand their concerns and address any specific issues they have identified."
