Alsager fell silent this afternoon after crowds turned out to watch the town's annual Remembrance Parade and wreath laying.

The Remembrance parade moved off from the Civic Centre car park at around 2.30 pm before arriving at the War Memorial in Sandbach Road South at 2.40pm.

There was hardly a space to spare as a series of wreaths were laid at the War Memorial by dignatories and groups in the town.

After the ceremony, the parade marched to St Mary's Church, Crewe Road for a Remembrance Service at 3pm.
