Primary school pupils spread joy by sending letters and cards to local care home residents

Alsager Highfields are delighted to receive such positive feedback from local nursing homes after their children made cards and wrote letters to spread some Christmas joy amongst the residents.
The initiative started with The Oaks retirement village asking them to create cards, but after so much enthusiasm from the primary school pupils they made the decision to contact all other homes in the area.
They have had a fantastic response: many individual cards, a lovely signed card and donation from the residents at The Oaks, a letter from Lawton Manor with photos of how their residents celebrated Christmas and birthdays over the festive season, as well as an invitation to afternoon tea when safe to do so.
Hopefully the choir will be able to perform at the same time. Wilbraham House read the letters out to their residents and they had loved hearing
from the children. Lisa Henshall, Assistant Headteacher at Alsager Highfields, said: "It was a privilege to be able to deliver all the cards and letters; we wanted to share the love and cheer from our children and to try to reduce loneliness and create connections with some of our most lonely and vulnerable residents. "Community links like this teach our children the importance of connection and care and it supports our vulnerable community too."
