Preparations in full swing for this year's Alsager Carnival with D-Day themed parade
Floats and organisations will be taking on a military theme at this year's annual parade at Alsager Carnival.
The parade theme is D Day as the 80th anniversary of the pivotal moment in WW2, the day soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy, takes place two days before the carnival.
The actual date of the anniversary of the D Day landings is June 6th and Alsager Carnival takes place on Saturday, June 8th.
Organisers, Alsager Round Table, say the carnival is set to be "bigger and better" than ever before.
"The parade leaves Alsager's Fairview Car Park at 12 noon, visiting sections of Lawton Road, Sandbach Road North, Lodge Road, Church Road and Crewe Road before arriving in Milton Park at approximately 1pm," said a spokesperson.
"Local residents should be aware that rolling road closures affecting those roads will be in place during that time.
"In the park, we'll have our usual mix of fairground rides, food and drink, toy and charity stalls alongside The Fantastic 41 Club Bar and entertainment in the arena will be provided by local performers as well as this year's headline act, "On the Edge Motorcycle Stunt Show".
Alsager Round Table say the park is now full to capacity for stalls, but they are still inviting and accepting applications for walking or rolling floats to enter the parade.
"Anyone considering it is reminded that although we have a theme of D Day, you can theme your own float however you like and we may be able to help with supplying a vehicle and driver."
All enquiries should either be directed to [email protected] or by completing the application form that can be found on the Alsager Round Table Facebook page here
