Calling all parents and carers – are you struggling to cover the cost of kitting out your child or children for the new school year or are you looking to save some money where you can?
An award-winning charity in Alsager has come up with the perfect solution which not only saves money but is also eco-friendly too.
Alsager Community Support (ACS), which received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, two years ago is urging people to pay a visit to their uniform shop.
And they say the shop isn't just for buying – it is also looking for donations for uniform items which are no longer required.
A spokesperson from ACS, now based in Crewe Road, above The Vault restaurant, said: "Our popular scheme is designed to ease the financial burden on families while promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.
"With the average family spending over £100 per child each year on uniforms (Wynsors, 2024), the financial strain can be significant.
"At ACS, you can swap or purchase school uniforms for a suggested small donation of just £1.00.
"This contribution helps cover our running costs, as our operations are funded solely by grants and donations."
The spokesperson added: "The affordable prices ensure that every child can return to school equipped with the necessary attire.
"Our extensive inventory includes uniforms with logos for various Alsager schools, as well as essential items such as white shirts, pale blue shirts, grey trousers, shorts, pinafores, footwear, and a wide selection of winter coats.
"With our new, spacious premises, we can store even more uniforms, ensuring a wide range of sizes and styles are always available."
And "Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our community and environment."
"We encourage everyone to spread the word about this valuable scheme to friends and family," the spokesperson added.
