The owners of Alsager's 24-hour launderette, Clean & Dry, have opened another business in nearby Crewe - sparked by the cost-of-living crisis.

Crewe Self-Service Launderette, West Street, officially opened its doors this month, operating 12 hours, seven days a week.

So many people were visiting their busy Alsager launderette in Sandbach Road South from Crewe that the owners decided to open a branch in the town.

The new West End business is located inside the former West Street Band Club, which closed down over five years ago.

"We noticed people were coming from Crewe to Alsager to use the launderette so we realised there was a need in Crewe.

"It's often cheaper to do your washing this way with the dryers. We've noticed more and more people are visiting us since the cost-of-living crisis began."

And it's not just Crewe where people are coming from to use the Alsager launderette - they also travelling from Middlewich, Northwich, Congleton and Stoke.

The Alsager launderette is 24-hours, with people using it right through the day and night.

"You'd be amazed at how many people are doing their washing at two and three o'clock in the morning," added Leanne,

The new Crewe launderette has three different sizes of washing machines - large, extra large and extra extra large.

"In the biggest machines, a family could fit an entire weeks worth of washing in," said Leanne.

"The variety of different sizes are perfect for local residents, suitable for everyone."

Crewe Self-Service Launderette has 18 washing machines, with three different sizes, and 10 tumble dryers (Ryan Parker).

"We're really glad to be finally open, offering this service for 12 hours, seven days a week."
