Plans for a house to be erected in the front garden of an existing Alsager property have been approved by Cheshire East Council.

Mr and Mrs Leek sought outline planning permission for a single dwelling at 196, Crewe Road, Alsager.

The application site which measures 823 square metres comprises part of the front garden of 196, Crewe Road.

Alsager Town Council had the following concerns regarding the application:

· Overdevelopment

· Access & increase in traffic

· Visual impact

· Tree loss

· Impact on wildlife

A resident who lives on The Conifers, Alsager, was concerned that the planned house could "overlook" their home and garden leading to a "loss of privacy".

However, a Cheshire East planning officer felt there was space for "adequate" private amenity space within the plot for future occupiers of the proposed dwelling and the occupiers of the existing dwelling (196 Crewe Road).

The planning officer's report stated: "The surrounding development consists of a mixture house styles and therefore design is not an issue that would warrant refusal of the application. There is no established building line on Crewe Road.

"The proposed development is considered to be in keeping with the character of the area and would not adversely impact upon the amenities of neighbours."

The application which includes two car parking spaces was approved.
