A charity beer and gin festival opens in Alsager tonight (Friday) and it's set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Alsager Beer and Gin Festival's roots go back to 2017 when it was originally organised by the Satellite Club, an offshoot of the Rotary Club.

Now the event , organised by David Black, Jason Lockett, Kay Stancliffe and Alan Stancliffe, chairman of Alsager Cricket Club, takes place over three days.

The festival, at Alsager Cricket Club in Fairview Avenue, opens at 6 pm today (Friday) and features a line-up of bands.

It continues until Sunday from noon "until the beer runs out" and anyone is invited to attend.

Alan Stancliffe, chairman of Alsager Cricket Club said: "Aided by a vast army of volunteers, we now dedicate time to this one off event which normally takes place between the carnival and the music festival.

"Over the years, local charities have benefited by over £12,000 of funding from profits made at the four festivals that have taken place since 2017.

"A defibrillator was purchased for the health centre last year and the Alsager Community Hub receives a donation every year.

"We now showcase local musicians and also welcome Alsager Scouts who provide food on the Saturday.

"Cricket continues to be played on the Saturday and Sunday and it has become a fantastic community event for Alsager."

It opens at 6.15 pm tonight with a live music line-up as well as an array of beer and gin.

Admission is free although there's a deposit on glasses. Dogs, children and families are welcome.
