Officers have received reports that some motorists are not adhering to the one-way system on Lodge Road.

The active travel measure implemented by Cheshire East in Alsager has been frequently discussed at Alsager Town Council meetings.

However, an Alsager Police spokesperson said: "Please ensure you are not turning from Sandbach Road North onto Lodge Road and that you take notice of the road signs."

The first nine cycling and walking active travel schemes which cost £155,000 in money allocated to Cheshire East from the government included Lodge Road, Alsager.

The measure has resulted in through traffic heading south to Lodge Road being restricted to cyclists and pedestrians only.

Cheshire East implemented the scheme to "provide additional footway space for children accessing Alsager School and to improve safety where there is currently a narrow footway and poor forward visibility".

The lane closure has been in place near the junction of Lodge Road and Sandbach Road North.
