Our story asking readers to send in suggestions for the former Bank Corner Building in Lawton Road produced a flurry of replies.

They ranged from a walk-in medical centre to a community entertainment centre and two readers saying they wanted it returned to a drinking venue.

The former Bank Corner building is currently "under offer" but Alsager Nub News asked readers here to send in their suggestions.

Anne Radcliffe said she would like to see a Lidl or an Aldi as these premises were a supermarket years ago.

"Years ago, the building was a Lipton supermarket. However, it would be a great shame to lose this venue as it was beautifully refurbished when it became Bank Corner so how about a Wetherspoons," she said.

Hazel Palmer suggested a walk-in centre with doctors in attendance as well as nurses.

She said: "I think that this would provide a useful service to the whole community."

Stephen Pelikan thinks the building should become "something along the lines of a Wetherspoons.

He said: "This would give the town some balance and nightlife too otherwise it will remain dead on the weekends and people won't go out!"

Eileen Venables says she would like it to become something for the community like an entertainment space for Alsager Community Theatre .

"They could hold classes for drama for both adults and young people and perform plays or shows for the locals," she said.

Maisie Parrish meanwhile thinks Alsager is lacking somewhere to obtain craft supplies, such as sewing and knitting.

"Perhaps the space could be divided into smaller businesses offering different services?" she said. "It's a long journey on a bus to get a spool of cotton."
