Congleton MP Fiona Bruce, who constituency includes Alsager, has responded to the news that are to shut depots and get rid of 13 bus routes, one of which affecting Congleton.

Last week's Arriva North West cuts includes getting rid of the 38 Crewe - Macclesfield bus, which stops off in Sandbach .

D&G Buses will still operate this route under the 38 moniker, but Arriva's is set to go this spring.

Congleton's Conservative MP Fiona Bruce, whose constituency includes Alsager said:

"I am aware of the current proposals to close Arriva bus depots locally and know that consultation on this is ongoing. I know this is of significant concern to many of my constituents who are bus users who rely on these services for shopping, hospital visits and getting to school and any constituents who are employed at these local depots.

"I and other Cheshire MPs met with Arriva immediately this week on hearing of the proposals to discuss this, highlight concerns, and see what could be done.

"I would encourage constituents to make their views known to Arriva during the consultation process through their contact details online at https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/help/contact-us and am making further enquiries of my own."

She has been Congleton's MP since 2010, and will run in the next General Election.
