Meet Alsager Town Council's newly elected chair and deputy chair to serve for the year 2022-23

Alsager Town Council has elected a new chair and deputy chair to serve for the 2022-23 year.
Cllr Phil Williams, who also represents Alsager for Cheshire East Council, takes over from outgoing chair, Cllr Michael Unett.
The freelance market research specialist was voted into office at a meeting of Alsager Town Council last night.

Cllr Williams, who joined Alsager Town Council in 2015, says he is keen to work on open spaces and play areas and ensure there is equality across the town.
He has chosen Alsager Partnership – Dementia Friendly Community and the group in Alsager helping The Christie as his two chosen charities for this year.
Thanking Cllr Unett for his year in office, the new chair, Cllr Phil Williams, said he was looking forward to continuing Cllr Unett's good work.

"Cllr Unett has been a very good chair. He has been fair minded and balanced things during some difficult times for the council," he said.
Also elected at last night's meeting was Cllr Jane Hearne who is the council's new deputy chair.
Cllr Hearne said he is looking forward to her year in office and helping Alsager Town Council work towards quality gold status in the Local Council Award scheme.
Cllr Hearne, who is retired, worked in procurement in various positions before retiring and has worked for Barclays and Ernst & Young.
Alsager Town Council is also fortunate to have had one of their councillors, Cllr Rod Fletcher, elected last week as Cheshire East Council's Deputy Mayor for 2022-23 .
