Dear Alsager residents ...

I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the town and people of Alsager for the honour of being your mayor for the past two years.

Originally from Kidsgrove, I have lived in Alsager since 2002.

As a Procurement / Supplier Manager, I was employed at Barclays Bank for over 28 years and then for EY, an accountancy and consultancy firm, for seven years before retiring in 2020.

I am a Trustee for The Jane Maddocks Homes, chair of trustees for the Stroke Survivors Language and Support Group and also provide the Gift Aid support to St Mary Magdalene Church in Alsager.

I have loved every minute of it and it's an experience I'll treasure for the rest of my life.

Throughout my two years, I've had the honour of attending so many events and projects which will shape Alsager for many years to come.

As mayor, I have had the privilege to see the strength and depth of our community.

From our charities, community groups, churches, veterans, and sports clubs, it is inspiring. and I've also had the pleasure of witnessing many openings in the town.

In August last year, I spent a great afternoon at the site of the new Sainsbury's in Alsager. I got a birds eye view of the site, along with borough councillors Councillor Rod Fletcher and Councillor Reg Kain.

We were presented with the architectural designs and walked through the site of the store which officially opened on February 26th. What a delight to see all the planning and then the official opening.

In June last year, it was the 80 year D-Day Memorial Anniversary. Alsager Town Council, along with the RoyalBritish Legion - Alsager branch were on the Civic Green with members of the public to show their respects and the raising of the flag.

Alsager is renowned for its many clubs and groups and its many annual events including Alsager Garden Show which last year had over 400 attendees. I presented the the prize winners with their trophies which was a great honour.

I have loved my two years in office. "Being the Alsager Town Mayor for a second term is a role that came with great responsbility and honour.

As then public face of the council, the Mayor has the privilege of respresenting the community and engaging with residents, businesses and organisations.

Always mindful of the dignity of the office, the Mayor upholds the values and traditions of Alsager, ensuring the town's interests are represented.

I am delighted to have been in post while so much has been achieved and done and look forward to seeing the work of my successor."

Throughout my term in office, I have seen Alsager Institute obtain a grant for £40,000 to install solar panels - completed a no cost to Alsager residents.

There's also an application for a grant to provide solar panels on the Alsager Civic with £25,000 allocated in the 2025/26 budget to ensure if successful, the town council is required to make a contribution.

A banking hub has been opened inside Alsager Civic, providing a much-needed asset for Alsager.

Although my two years as mayor are now over, I will continue to work for the good of our beautiful town and its residents.

There is no place like Alsager, a town I have lived in for a while and one I will continue to represent as a town councillor.

My time as mayor is over but my my passion and love for Alsager's wonderful residents and community will continue through my work as a town councillor.

Yours sincerely,

Cllr Jane Hearne.
