A man has been found dead in the car park at Sandbach Railway Station.

British Transport Police said it was called at around 7am today (14 May) after a man was found "unresponsive" in the car park at Sandbach Railway Station in Elworth.

The spokesman added: "Officers responded with paramedics, however despite their best efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the man's death are ongoing."

Eye witness reports said the main car park entrance was open earlier but the steps leading from the bridge on London Road were cordoned off.
