Man and woman die in fatal A500 collision between car and HGV

A male driver and female passenger from Stoke-on-Trent have died in a fatal A500 collision, involving a car and a HGV on the A500..

On Saturday (15 February) Cheshire Police were alerted to a serious collision on the A500, between Meremoor Moss Roundabout and M6 Junction 16.

Around 6.30pm, emergency services arrived the scene, discovering a collision between a white Ford Kuga and a HGV, which caused a fire.

Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Road closures are in place between the M6 junction 16 and Meremoor Moss Roundabout at Weston.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 6.30pm today, Saturday 15 February, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the A500 near Crewe.

"Officers in attendance found that the collision involved a white Ford Kuga and a HGV.

"Sadly, the driver of the Ford, a man, and a passenger in the vehicle, a woman, have both died at the scene.

"Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"Road closures are in place between the M6 junction 16 and Meremoor Moss Roundabout at Weston.

"Delays are to be expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision and anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website, or call 101 quoting IML 2028192."
