A Staffordshire-based charity will be bringing its 'pop-up panto' to King's Hall again this month, following the success of last year's pantomime.

Stoke Amateur Theatre Society (SATS) will perform this year's family pantomime, Cinderella, between 6 and 10 December.

SATS is a dedicated charity whose main aim is to provide affordable theatre for everyone, whether that is to watch or to take part in.

The dedicated team of volunteers will work to transform the stunning King's Hall into a theatre for their performances, even bringing in a stage, tiered seating and building wings inside the venue.

Bethany Bairstow-Morris, Head of Marketing at SATS, told Stoke Nub News: "We did the panto at King's Hall for the first time last year and it was terrifying and a mammoth task but it was really successful.

"Last year's panto was Goldilocks and The Three Bears and a survey conducted afterwards revealed some really incredible feedback.

"A local charity, Headway, came to see us and they gave some really good feedback and said we really looked after their accessibility requirements."

Paul Brammer is a seasoned scriptwriter at SATS, but this year he was joined by director, Joanna Vardy, to create a traditional panto with a modern twist.

Last year SATS performed Goldilocks and The Three Bears and sold over 4,000 tickets (Chris Smith/Beardy Nature).

Bethany, who is the longest standing member of SATS and is gearing up to play Buttons this year, continued: "A lot of the trustees are actually in the cast or they make the costumes and we've got lots of young cast members who come through the company - they all say they've gained something from being with us even if they don't go into theatre in the future.

"In this year's script there is definitely something for everyone, there's singing, dancing, classic jokes and jokes for younger audiences - it's a really nice refreshing take on panto."

Despite the cost of living crisis, SATS has sold over 2,000 panto tickets so far.

A family ticket costs £45, adults cost £15 and children/students/concessions cost £12.
