Heavy rainfall forced the closure recently of a busy Alsager road earlier this week due to flooding.

Cheshire East Council's highways department said it closed the A50 Linley Lane on Tuesday (December 5th) due to flooding on the carriageway under the railway bridge.

"This was as a result of a blockage with the watercourse Investigations are in progress to resolve this issue," a spokesperson said.

Reader, David Marsh, kindly sent in a photo of the water under the bridge on Linley Lane.

Meanwhile a road in Haslington near Sandbach was closed yesterday (Wednesday).

Clay Lane in Haslington was closed due to flooding on the carriageway from water running off the adjacent fields.
