Being the best at losing weight wouldn't normally help you scoop an award, yet one woman near Alsager has done just that - after being named 'Greatest Loser' 2022.

Sue Hulse who is a member of a Slimming World group in Butt Lane, Kidsgrove, has lost a life changing two stone 4.5Lbs to take the title.

Sue only joined the group in January as this was a new group which opened at the beginning of the year following the pandemic so she has lost the weight in a matter of weeks!

Sue, who has gone from a size 18/20 to a size 10, said: "I feel amazing and it has given me a real boost with my health.

"It's definitely helping with my long term back problem and I have even been to the public swimming pool, which I would have never done before.

"I feel more confident in myself and didn't even feel embarrassed," said Sue.

Sue said about the group: "it's a warm and friendly group with a good mixture of people - all different shapes, sizes and ages.

"It's a group where a lot of people get involved with support and ideas and the consultant, Chloe, genuinely cares about each person in the group and their individual goals."

When Sue was crowned the Greatest Loser, she says: "I have had Slimmer of the Week and Slimmer of the Month.

"I was over the moon, I only started Slimming World on the 21st January 2022.

"I love popping my awards on the fridge, it reminds me when I'm cooking or preparing food that the journey is rewarding as you progress towards your target weight."

Sue followed Slimming World's Food Optimising eating plan and swapped take- aways and fast food for new favourites which she batch cooks for convenience.

Sue says she has learned to make basic changes to the food she makes and has never felt deprived or on a 'diet'.

She also believes that the group environment helps with ideas, along with the Facebook group which the members use to share ideas, support and encouragement for each other.

The Butt Lane group in Kidsgrove, is held every Friday morning at 9.30am, at Butt Lane Community Centre on Lower Ash Road.
