It's the cat's whiskers - Alsager artist helps charity shop celebrate first birthday with eye-catching windows

An Alsager artist has worked her wonders again - drawing cats on the windows of a Sandbach-based charity shop celebrating a special birthday this week. 

It's a year this weekend since the Sandbach Animal Rescue Society opened its shop in George's Walk. 

And over the Easter weekend, artist Vanessa Lumley-Wood, who lives in Alsager, worked her wonders on the windows once again. 

Vanessa did the artwork on the shop's windows when it opened on April 7th last year and she has done it again, this time drawing famous cartoon characters. 

The windows of the charity's shop are now dressed with a variety of famous cats from 'The Cat in the Hat' to Garfield and the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. 

The forward-thinking charity, which holds regular coffee mornings and other events, is continuously raising money, with events showcasing on their Facebook page here

The charity has been running for over 40 years but it's the first time it has opened a shop as we revealed in our story here
