Individuals and groups honoured for their work at glittering Alsager Civic awards night

Individuals and groups were honoured for their hard work and efforts for the Alsager community at a glittery awards ceremony. 

Alsager Civic awards was held at Alsager Civic last night (Sunday) and Mayor Councillor Jane Hearne presented eight awards. 

Studio S Dance and Fitness in Crewe Road entertained the audience with several dazzling dance displays.

Paul Dean, who runs the Alsager branch of the Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group, won the Community award presented to an individual or group of people who have helped to genuinely change the lives of others in the Alsager community.  

Paul joined the Crewe group in 2020 after having a stroke and loved it so much he now runs the Alsager branch which meets on Thursday mornings at the Thirteen Club. 

 He said: "I'm very honoured to receive the award which I consider to be on behalf of the group." 

The Great Neighbour award went to the organiser of a creative group who make post box toppers and other decoration for the town - Lorraine Standring. 

Alsager Animals in Need won the Animal award for their work with animals to improve animal welfare.

The Lifetime Achievement award went to chair of the trustees of Alsager Community Support, David Black. 

Mayor, Cllr Hearne, said she was extremely proud of all the efforts that groups and individuals make to ensure Alsager remains a great place to live.
