National radio presenter, Darren (Daz) Antrobus has become Alsager Round Table's new chairman.

Previously vice chairman, Daz who works at Silk Radio and Dee Radio, took over the role last Friday (March 28th).

The starlight is nothing new for the 44 year-old, who works at Silk 106.9 and as well as having worked at radio stations all over the country including BRMB in the Midlands and Signal radio.

Alsager Nub News caught up with Darren over a cuppa in one of his favourite Alsager haunts - Bod Alsager.

Darren said previously: "I'm honoured to have been voted in."

Alsager Round Table is a well-known organisation in the town and supports and helps out at many of the town's events including the annual firework display, the Santa Sleigh ride and Alsager Lights Switch-on.

It's a role which Daz finds easy to carry out, for he has close ties with the town. The Tunstall-born presenter spent much of his childhood in Alsager.

Alsager Round Table paid praise to outgoing chairman, Joel Hurst and welcomed Daz into the role for the next 12 months.

"Please welcome our new Chairman for the next 12 months and thank you to Joel our outgoing chairman for a wonderful 12 months previously," said a spokesperson.

"My father was a security man and boiler man at Radway Green. We used to socialise with friends in Alsager so I know it very well," said Daz who moved to Alsager in 2023.

"It's a fantastic place to live and has fabulous community spirit. I'm extremely happy to be doing my work with Alsager Round Table and look forward to continuing to help."

Alsager Round Table is looking for new members and anyone who is interested in joining can email Daz at [email protected]
