A kind-hearted Alsager shopkeeper is dedicating money raised from the sale of a handmade jewellery collection and other items to the hospice which cared for a customer in the final days of her life.

Glamorous Melanie Edwards was a customer and friend of Sharon Copestake, owner of Beading Amazing in Crewe Road Alsager.

Sadly Melanie, who loved making jewellery and was renowed for matching it to the clothing she wore, died from pancreatic cancer.

Her family handed over items from Melanie's handmade collection, much of which was made for friends and colleagues, to Beading Amazing and now the shop is selling the jellwellery with all going to St Luke's Hospice.

"I've priced the jewellery, much of which Melanie made, reasonably as we want to sell as much as possible and raise what we can for St Luke's Hospice," said Sharon.

"Mel loved making jewellery and crafting. These items are from her 'bead stash' and items she'd created.

"I knew Mel for a long time and it was a shock when she died. She always took part in my classes and was a good friend. We miss her."

Melanie died last year, aged just 62, but Beading Amazing has waited until now to sell Mel's 'bead stash' and jewellery and is hoping as many people as possible will buy the jewellery.

Sharon added: "She was such a glamorous, lovely woman who always looked fabulous and loved making jewellery. She phoned me from St Luke's to say how fantastic they were to her. We want to repay them for their work."

Items from the Melanie Edwards collection ar available on the counter of the shop in Crewe Road which is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10 am until 4 pm.
