A former X Factor contestant from Macclesfield who has sung with Robbie Williams will open the entertainment at this year's Pride in Alsager.

Robbie Williams superfan, Andy Hofton, was an X Factor contestant in 2018 and sang on stage with Robbie.

And the entertainment will be closed by another legend – Hayley "The Voice", a top vocalist, professionally trained in musical theatre.

Andy Hofton will kick off the musical entertainment performing party classics at the event at Alsager Cricket Club on Saturday, September 23rd.

A Pride in Alsager spokesperson said: "Andy's passion for performance is sure to start the party and have the audience singing and dancing along.

""This event is a celebration of LGBT+ identities and culture" said Pride in Alsager "Everyone is welcome to come and join us."

Other performers include Manchester-based acoustic musician Remy, four-piece band Chasing the Fall and Alsager's own Community Choir.

Young energy and passion will be supplied by performers from Tribe Dance Academy of Biddulph.

The event will be closed by Hayley "The Voice" who will be singing an eclectic mix of songs from all genres.

Organisers of this year's Pride in Alsager are gearing up for another fun-filled event last this month.

The celebrations start with a walk to the event from the corner of Church Road opposite The Lodge, Alsager.

Those joining are asked to meet at 11.20 am for a prompt 11.30 am start. Shops and businesses lining the route through Alsager have been invited to decorate their windows.

The Pride committee will choose their favourite displays on the Friday afternoon before and the winners will be announced on Saturday afternoon at Pride by Councillor Jane Hearne, the Mayor of Alsager.

The afternoon will be hosted with panache and humour by local drag queen Fonda D, The Plus-Sized Barbie Princess of Cheshire.

A range of delicious food and drinks will be available from stalls including Ey Up Duck, The British Legion BBQ, Home Coffee & Studio and Kams Mr Whippy as well as various stalls.
