Former Status Quo drummer, Jeff Rich, hit all the right notes when he went to an Alsager primary school to teach them some drumming techniques.

Jeff visited Alsager Highfields Community Primary School in Fairview Avenue to talk about his amazing career with the top rock band.

His success is even more remarkable as Jeff has never had a drum lesson, learning to play at home on a biscuit tin with his mum's knitting needles.

Jeff had many jobs as a youngster, so that he could eventually buy his own drum kit.

He told the children at Highfields that he practised every night after school from 4pm until 6pm.

This made them all feel rather sorry for his neighbours, especially as he grew up in a block of flats in Hackney, London.

During the afternoon at the Alsager school, pupils were privileged to participate in a practical workshop with Jeff, who shared with them an insight into his vast experience.

Headteacher, Rachel Woollam, said: "It was an unforgettable experience for all involved.

"Jeff's main message resonated with our own mission statement of Nurture, Believe and Achieve."

The video clip shows Jeff visiting another school not Highfields.
