A former nursery teacher has swapped the classroom for waging a war on sustainable living.
Fifty-three year-old Rose King has left an academic career of 22 years to open her own shop in Alsager.
'Rose's Refills' in Lawton Road aims to offer 'a sustainable solution' to plastic packaging.
Customers will be able to take or buy a container and refill it with anything from pasta and rice to shampoo and laundry liquid.
The mother-of-two from Alsager is busy refitting and adding the finishing touches to her shop across the road from Alsager's Civic.
Rose was inspired to embark on a sustainable lifestyle by daughter, Chloe, after she did a Masters at the Centre of Alternative Technology.
"It's about making changes, however small or big they are, for future generations," said Rose.
"We don't know what life will be like in the future but we need to start thinking about what is happening and the impact we're having."
Rose said she has spent the last year waiting for the right premises in Alsager to come on to the market.
And she believes her shop could also help families struggling with the cost-of -living crisis.
Rose said: "Customers will be able to come in and buy as little or as much of a product they want.
"This could just be a cup of pasta for example for one meal or it could be more if they want it. The quantity doesn't matter. It's all about following a sustainable lifestyle."
Rose worked at Springhead Primary School in Talke Pitts and is hoping parents and families from there will come and visit her shop
Housed in a former hairdressing salon, Rose is planning to stock a range of products from reusable eye make-up removers to staple household items.
And she hopes ladies from the Alsager Tangent club will also come and support her new venture, due to open at the end of the month, on October 28th.
