Forget the Loch Ness monster - strange creature spotted in the middle of The Mere

Alsager's Mere is known for its picturesque views and houses backing onto the town's prominent feature.
The Mere is a regular spot for visitors coming to the town and a popular place for children and others to watch the array of swans floating by.
It even has a pub named after it, The Mere, which which includes some angling memorabilia – a nod to its nearness to the lake as we revealed in this story here
A small lake in the center of Alsager it's been there since before medieval times and is apprently spring fed it was a quiet place to go and watch the world go by - until today!
For a regular at Bod Alsager, which is opposite one of the viewing areas on to The Mere, spotted something strange floating - a head and body of a creature not unlike the so called 'Loch Ness monster'.
Fly Bean went dashing into Bod Alsager to tell regulars of what he'd seen.
"I couldn't believe my eyes - I was standing there just before 9 am today when I saw something bobbing up and down in the water," he said.
"I'm a widlife lover and love swans but I'd never seen anything like this. It had a big head and and a body not unlike the Loch Ness monster. Children were screaming and it came close to the railings so we got a good look. It was very scary.
"I've never believed the stories about that but now I'm beginning to change my mind. Perhaps these monsters do exist! Just hope it doesn't eat any of the swans on The Mere."

If you've read this far then firstly, sorry. Secondly, I'm sure you've worked it out already but this is an April Fools! I'm afraid there's no Mere Monster not that we know - but The Mere is a lovely place to go and visit.
