After England's lionesses beat Spain to reach the semi-finals of Euro 22, we turn our focus on an Alsager pupil who is right target with her favourite sport - football.

Summer Skerratt, a Year Five pupil at Alsager Highfields Primary School, has been awarded the national Primary Premier League Stars award for sport.

The youngster met and exceeded the four competencies - be connected, be ambitious, be fair and be inspiring.

And former pupil of Alsager Highfields, Lee Bell, Assistant Manager of Crewe Alex football team, visited the school to present Summer with her award.

A spokesperson for Crewe Alex said: "Summer is an exceptional footballer. She plays in an Alsager team as well as playing for the Crewe Alex girls' development squad.

Cameron Phelps, from Crewe Alex, nominated Summer for her contribution and hard work both in school and at Crewe Alex.

Cameron said: "Summer's confidence has really grown this year and helped her to overcome her doubt in herself.

"She is a great team player and is starting to believe in herself which is why I really enjoy working with Alsager Highfields."
