Firefighters rescue horse after it falls down an embankment

Firefighters were called to rescue a horse near Alsager after it had fallen down an embankment and got stuck in barbed wire.

Crews from Crewe and Lymm spent about two hours releasing the horse and untangling it from the wire.

They were called to the incident in Barthomley Road, Barthomley at 8.21pm last night (Thursday).

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The animal was brought to its feet and was able to walk."
