Firefighters extinguished a fire which was contained to a microwave oven at a flat in Alsager.

At around 8am today (Monday) firefighters were informed of a fire in a flat on Talke Road, Alsager.

On arrival a smoke alarm was sounding and there was heavy smoke logging. Two fire engines attended, one from Alsager and one from Crewe.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "No-one was unaccounted for and the fire was contained to a microwave oven."

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters then used a large fan to clear the flat of smoke.

Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and 15 minutes.
