Firefighters from Alsager tackled a grass fire at a quarry in Radway Green.

They were called to Butterton Lane at 6.40 pm last night (Wednesday) and used two hose reel jets to put out the blaze.

An area of grass measuring about 30 metres by 10 metre was on fire in a field at Whitemoss Quarry.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is unknown.

The recent heatwave led to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service going to around 100 fires across the county when the heat wave hit on Monday.
