Firefighter charged with causing death by dangerous driving is due in court this week

A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died following a crash in Alsager is due in court this week.
Police were called to the scene at the junction with Crewe Road and Close Lane at 7.22am on Friday 28 March 2025 where there had been a crash between a Lexus and a fire engine.
The driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the fire engine, a 57-year-old man, has been summonsed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Friday 23 January 2026 to face the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
