Every year, Alsager Round Table holds several fundraising events to enable it to stage the various community events in the town.

Their charity annual bonfire event is one of them and preparations are well underway for this year's bonfire which takes place on Saturday, 7 November.

And this year, there's something new - fire performers who will be fire eating and performing in front of the bonfire while there will be be a DJ stage sponsored by M6 Bed Warehouse.

Alsager Round Table is also running a firework poster competition to win tickets for the event. It is open for youngsters aged five to 16. More details to follow in another story.

Hundreds of people attend the event at The Plough in Crewe Road Alsager and tickets for this year's event have gone on sale.

Tickets cost £10.75 (£10.00 + £0.75 booking fee) and children under 16 (under 3 years free) £7.75 (£7.00 + £0.75 booking fee) while a family (2 adults, 3 children) costs £30 plus a booking fee and are available from here

There will be a fairground, street food stalls, a live DJ and entertainment. Gates open at 4 pm, the fire is lit at 5 pm and the fireworks begin at 7 pm.

Daz Antrobus, press officer of Alsager Round Table said: "It's an event which local families love and we're looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible to this year.

"It was such a success last year and we're hoping it will be bigger and better than ever this year. It's the only professional firework event in the town and it's much safer to come to an organised firework display.

"All money goes back into the local community, helping individuals, schools and organisations and also helping to fund other events like the Christmas light switch-on and carnival."
