Fire at bungalow in Alsager caused accidentally by items being left on electric cooker

A fire at a bungalow in Alsager started accidentally due to items being left on top of an electric cooker whilst food was cooking unsupervised.
Shortly before 1pm on Saturday, (29th May), firefighters received a report of a smoke alarm sounding at a bungalow on Linley Road, Alsager.
On arrival, firefighters discovered that a fire involving a cooker in the kitchen had activated the alarm and no-one was unaccounted for or injured as a result of the fire.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the bungalow and extinguished the fire with water and the cooker was taken to a safe place outside.
Firefighters also used a large fan to clear smoke from the bungalow and a thermal imaging camera to monitor temperatures.
Firefighters left the address once they were satisfied it was safe.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The fire is believed to have started accidentally, via items having been left on top of an electric cooker whilst food was cooking unsupervised."
