Campaigners fighting plans for 1,100 new homes in Alsager have written to their MP, local councillors and the planning committee to try and block the plans.

And they are calling on local residents to gather as much evidence as possible on the local area and nature as to why the Manor View development should not be built.

A public consultation opened recently here for Hallam Land's plans to build the homes on land between Hassall Road and Dunnocksfold Road to the north west of Alsager.

More than 350 people have already signed the 'Save Alsager's Green Space' petition here and now campaigners have written to their MP Sarah Russell as well as local councillors and the planning committee.

Resident, Maisie Hardman said: "Let's keep our voices heard. We've now reached an amazing 359 signatures on our petition, and we're still counting!

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed, shared the petition and taken the time to leave such powerful comments about how the proposed Manor View development could affect our community.

"I've written to our MP, councillors, the planning committee and others to make sure the concerns of Alsager residents are being heard but we can do even more together!

"I'm asking for your help to gather as much evidence as possible. If you live in Alsager, please send through any relevant photos, information or personal experiences, including wildlife and nature – wildlife you've spotted, birds, hedgehogs, bats, badgers, deer, or other animals and evidence of their habitats.

"Traffic and congestion – busy roads, queues, existing congestion, road-safety concerns and difficult junctions. Our green spaces – photos of the fields, hedgerows, footpaths and countryside that make Alsager special.

"Drainage and flooding – any relevant photos or first-hand experiences of local flooding or drainage problems. Pressure on local services – your experiences of accessing GP appointments, schools, roads and other essential services.

"Your experiences matter. If you have concerns about how a development of this scale could affect you, your family or the wider community, please share with them.

"The more specific, factual evidence we can gather, the better equipped we'll be to raise informed concerns and ask the relevant authorities to address them.

"Please include the location and date with photos where possible, and only share images you have permission to use. Please don't put yourself or wildlife at risk to get a photo."

Maisie added: "This isn't about causing arguments. It's about making sure our community, our countryside and the concerns of local people are properly heard and considered. Let's stand together, Alsager. Let's make our voices heard."
