A charity night due to be held on Friday in aid of Alsager Dementia Friendly Community has unfortunately been cancelled.

Chair of Alsager Town Council, Councillor Phil Williams, nominated the charity as one of the organisations he would raise money during his year in office.

On Friday (October 14th), a charity night at Alsager Civic featuring a show stopping line-up of entertainment including Vicky Gotham, of The Sweethearts, was due to be held.

But Cllr Williams has informed Alsager Nub News that the event has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

Friday's event is cancelled

And now he is thinking of other ways he can raise funds for the charity which is close to his heart

He said: "'We are sorry to cancel but came to the view that the event would lack impact and atmosphere with relatively low attendance. People who bought tickets can be reimbursed through Alsager Civic.

"With the darker evenings and renewed concern about Covid, some of the organisers felt it best not to go ahead.

"The Dementia Friendly Community is one of the Chairman's Charities for this year and as Chairman of Alsager Town Council I will look for other ways to raise funds for this very important initiative in the life of our community."
