An Alsager restaurant owned by a DJ turned chef has applied for permission to play live music.

Mr Bigz Flavours in Crewe Road has applied to Cheshire East Council for a minor variation of premises licence.

The application asks for live music and DJ performances to take place indoors.

It states: "Activities would take place on weekends primarily with extended days on occasions (Bank Holidays or summer months).

Alsager Nub News told here how Martin 'Mr Bigz' Mwale is a DJ when he's not cooking delicious dishes at his Alsager restaurant.

Martin was recently nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the Staffordshire University Business awards.

Martin grew up in Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent and completed a foundation degree in management at Staffordshire University.

He DJs all over Staffordshire and launched an Instagram account showcasing his culinary skills during lockdown.

Martin also mentors school children in culinary and life skills and is a social justice ambassador for children.

Alsager Nub News approached Martin for a comment about the application but to date has not received a reply.

Residents have until May 18th to make representations to Cheshire East Council's licensing section about the application.
