To help continue its work towards being a dementia friendly town, Alsager Partnership has received a £1,000 donation from local developer David Wilson Homes.

By becoming dementia friendly, it means the people of Alsager are providing a place where people with dementia are understood, respected, supported and feel confident that they can contribute to community life.

The housebuilder was keen to support the local initiative as its currently creating a brand-new community within the town at its development, Scholar's Place.

It will now display bunting and banners at the Hassall Road new homes site to help Alsager Partnership promote Dementia Awareness Week (17th to 23rd May) within the town.

The donation was made through David Wilson Homes' 'Our Space Your Place' community initiative, aiming to support the community projects and local organisations throughout the North West, such as the Alsager Partnership.

Kath Reader, vice-chair at Alsager Partnership, said: "This very generous donation will make a real difference to what we might achieve, when we are able to resume our face-to-face activities."

From hosting memory cafes to hosting 'Dementia Friend' sessions, the Alsager Partnership's work is providing many opportunities for people living with dementia to connect with one and other.

Robert Holbrook, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: "The Dementia Friendly Town project really stood out to us as a fantastic community initiative, and it's been great to support Alsager Partnership in their goals to make the town more inclusive for those with dementia.

"As we are now part of the Alsager community with our Scholar's Place development, it's so important for us to support key neighbourhood schemes such as this and really show our support for local people.

"In these difficult times, we are encouraging everyone to continue to support local causes like this.

"We've been huge ambassadors for working together to support each other, but team spirit is needed now more than ever before."
