Adapting and operating through Covid was the theme of Church Lawton Parish Council's civic service hosted by All Saints' Church.

The service, which was combined with the Harvest Festival, was led by the Reverend Steve Clapham, Rector of All Saints' Church, Church Lawton, Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Chester and Rural Dean of Congleton.

Deputy Chair of Alsager Town Council, Councillor Phil Williams, was among the guests to attend the event which focused on the importance of home and community during Covid.

Other guests included Councillor Terry O'Neill, Chairman of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils, Councillor Angela Cooper, Mayor of Kidsgrove Town Council and Odd Rode Cheshire East councillors, Councillor Elizabeth Wardlaw and Councillor Patrick Redstone.

The congregation heard from representatives from the farming community, a local care home and Alsager and District Food Bank about how they had managed to adapt and operate during the difficulties which Covid presented them with.

Church Lawton Parish Council chairman, Councillor Gareth Mitchell, talked about the role of the parish council supporting the community.

He thanked members of voluntary and community groups operating in Church Lawton and also those nearby which benefit Church Lawton residents.
