Christmas comes early for Alsager Netball Club after company's ace move

A children's netball team is ending the year on a high after receiving support from a new sponsor.
Alsager Aces, aged 11 and 12, can now travel to matches in warm winter jackets, thanks to support from Cheshire breakfast foods company Mornflake in Crewe.
The girls' side, formed three years ago, includes players from Alsager, Sandbach, Haslington and Crewe. The club's website can be found here
Coach Emma Bowers said: "The Aces have had a number of successes and there's such a strong bond between them. Attracting sponsorship in the current economic climate is difficult, so we were thrilled when Mornflake offered support.
"We've been able to kit the girls out in waterproof jackets, all matching, so they feel very much part of a team."
The Aces are part of Alsager Netball Club which was founded in 1997. It began with six girls playing netball and now boasts more than 100 members.
The Club is affiliated to England Netball and has teams playing in many local netball leagues including the Warrington Sport for All League, Cheshire Junior Netball Leagues and Stoke-on-Trent winter and summer leagues.
Emma, whose daughter is also a player, added: "Mornflake is well known as a sponsor of Crewe Alexandra Football Club so the girls feel proud to have such a big name behind them.
"They love their jackets which have arrived just in time for Christmas. All bear their initials so there's no getting them mixed up!"
Mornflake, millers of 'Mighty Oats' in Cheshire since 1675, encourages sport for all ages and abilities as part of a healthy lifestyle.
In 2024, a wide variety of Cheshire sporting organisations and individuals have received help, as well as supplies of its porridge, granola and muesli products.
Among them were gymnasts, bodybuilders, karate kids and rowing teams - all able to pursue their dreams of entering major competitions.
Others like Alsager Aces have received equipment or kit to help inspire and recruit new players.
Mornflake managing director James Lea said: "Sometimes a little help can go a long way. Just new jackets to stay warm travelling to matches can make all the difference.
"As we head towards our 350th anniversary next year, we're taking stock of the many organisations we have supported.
"Their feedback has been heartening and we were so pleased to end the year supporting the girls of Alsager Aces."
