Cheers! An Alsager pub toasted the festive season with an autumn wine tasting evening.

More than 40 people attended the event at The Mere Inn in Crewe Road last night to sample a selection from Oswestry-based Momentum wines.

Alec Street talked through the wines which will now be previewed on The Mere Inn's new-look speciality wine selection.

The event showcased eight wines from the new list, four artisan sherries paired with cheese and charcuterie, finishing with a vintage tawny port.

The Mere Inn runs live music nights with 'Just Pretending' appearing this Friday at 8.30 pm and Jody Jennings next Sunday before the Alsager Christmas lights switch-on as revealed in our What's On page here and The Mere's Facebook page here
