Children at an Alsager primary school are set to get an outside reading area – partly thanks to a memorial fund set up in memory of a boy.

Pikemere County Primary School's PTA applied for a grant from the Jack Dulson Memorial Fund and were successful.

And it has thanked Nub News for the part it played in getting the project on the road to success and opening new doors so it could turn over a new chapter with the project.

Not only has the school, in Pikemere Road, been able to finish its indoor library project, it is also setting up an outdoor library where children go outside in all weathers and read inside a special area.

Alsager Nub News told here how the school was getting a new-look library area and new books – thanks to kind-hearted teachers, parents and guardians.

The story has moved on from there and not only has the school been able to buy book storage for the indoor library, there's enough money left over to purchase an outside reading area.

A spokesperson from Pikemere School PTA said: "We were made aware of the Jack Dulson Memorial Fund here and loved one of their website's statements

"The bit about enabling children to do the things they love, to have fun, and to live life with a smile really did align with our thoughts and wishes for the new library area.

"We wanted this to be a place where the children can go alone or with a friend to immerse themselves in a book or discuss books with their friends/class.

The PTA added: "Thanks so much for all your help and the original article which has got us to this stage."

Now the school is in the process of creating an outdoor reading corner during the summer holidays as there was a little grant money left over and some money in the PTA pot.
