Firefighters had to set up a pump system to remove water after a burst water main left the cellar of a property near Alsager flooded.

One fire engine from Alsager went to the home in Congleton Road North, Scholar Green on Friday (November 29th) night at 9.52 pm.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "A flooded cellar in a property saw firefighters set up a pump system to remove water from the area.

"Gas and electric supplies were isolated for safety. The water was coming from an outside burst water main so United Utilities were informed and firefighters in flood suits worked to keep water levels low."

A spokesperson from United Utilities said: "Our team worked with the Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service on Friday evening and the burst was repaired.

"We're very sorry for any damage and inconvenience caused. Ww're in touch with the customer and will continue to support them to ensure any damage to the property is repaired as quickly as possible."
