Organisers of a four course Christmas Day lunch are appealing to anyone who would like to come along to get in touch.

A group of people in Church Lawton have organised a community Christmas lunch for anyone who would like to go along.

And they have extended the application deadline to allow more people to come forward and take part in the event.

Linda Grimshaw, one of the three organisers, said they have planned a special fun-filled day packed with food and festive cheer.

"We have 80 places left and we'd like to fill them. It's aimed at anyone who is struggling or would be on their own.

"Families are also coming and we've arranged some transport so we can help with that.

"We've had a fantastic response with offers of food and gifts. We just need people to come and enjoy it.

"We are sure to have a laugh, make lots of memories and we will all feel welcome."

The event takes place at Church Lawton Memorial Hall from 11 am until 5 pm and the group has Rode Heath Rode Runner mini bus for the day.

"If you have no transport that's not a problem. We will pick up and drop to Church Lawton, Rode Heath, Scholar Green, Alsager and Kidsgrove.

"We still have plenty of spaces for those who really would like to attend this community event. Please spread the word and share."

The group has secured support from a number of places including Tesco, Lidl,  A J Greens & Sons and Freshview and Cuttleford Farm shop

They have set up a Go Fund Me page to help with the cost of running the event and £270 has already been donated. Anyone who wants to go along is asked to ring Linda on 07599 033017 or Bev Newton on 07912 213426.
