Two talented residents at supported living accommodation in Alsager are holding an exhibition to raise funds for Alsager & District Food Bank.
An exhibition at Alsager Community Church on Tuesday (April 23rd) will showcase the work of Cathy Roberts and Diane Wolstenholme.
Both residents live at Independent Supported Living in the town and enjoy creative activities. Cathy is an artist and storyteller while Diane makes her own cards.
Cathy has a qualification in art and design and finds her art helps her to relax and unwind and is donating fifty per cent of any work sold at the exhibition to the food bank.
"I love all kinds of art," said Cathy who bases many of her designs on cartoon characters and films she has watched.
"My art is my therapy and I love it. I use all kinds of techniques from stippling to what's called 'black out' art.
"I also do mindfulness drawing. I just sketch what comes into my head and I also enjoy knitting."
Cathy has named one of her characters 'Dotty White' due to her love of checks and has even written a short story/poem about Dotty.
"I would love to write a children's book one day. I also enjoy writing," said Cathy whose key worker, Lizzie Hodgins, has helped to organise the exhibition.
Fellow resident, Diane Wolstenholme, enjoys making her own cards, and is donating all proceeds of Tuesday's exhibition to the food bank.
"Making cards is so relaxing and so therapeutic," said Diane, who started card making during a spell in hospital.
"The hospital introduced me to card making and I've been doing it ever since. It's great fun."
