A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help repair the roof of a house which was at the centre of a high-profile arrest.

Mother-of-two Steffi Garrett from Alsager has launched the appeal to fund repairs to the house in Beech Avenue, Rode Heath.

And she is hoping as many people as possible will back the campaign which has already reached £4,373 in a matter of days.

Steffi said on the GoFundMe page: "Thank you so much to each and every person that has so far donated. I can't tell you how grateful we are as a family."

Villagers came forward with tarpaulin and other items to make the property's roof secure following the incident on Sunday (April 28).

The Alsager resident added: "It's an unfortunate and terrible situation but the house insurance ran out four days before this happened.

"We're trying to do all we can to help. It was a case of the homeowner forgetting to renew the policy. It's so unfortunate."

Photographs sent to Nub News show damage to the roof of the house following the incident.

Others appear to show tiles on the ground and damage to a vehicle. Donations to the GoFundMe appeal can be made here
