Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves used plant machinery to steal the ATM machine at the Co-op in Kidsgrove.
Staffordshire Police say they were called to the store on Cedar Avenue in Kidsgrove following reports of a burglary at 3 am on Friday (9 January).
A spokesperson said: "An ATM was stolen with a piece of plant machinery. Two suspects were seen at the scene, having travelled to the location in a white van, possibly a Ford Transit or Maxus Deliver and a silver VW Golf.
"Each suspect was wearing all black. The plant machinery was left behind at the scene. We believe it was stolen a short time before the burglary took place. Officers attended and seized the plant machinery.
"We also alerted the local authority to send a structural engineer to the scene. Officers are continuing to conduct inquiries locally and urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to get in touch.
"Call us on 101 or use Livechat on our website, quoting incident number 82 of 9 January. To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
