Alsager's MP brands the ‘Trigger Me Timbers’ WhatsApp group 'disgraceful'

Congleton MP, Sarah Russell, whose constituency includes Alsager and Sandbach, has branded the so-called 'Trigger Me Timbers' WhatsApp group 'disgraceful'.
Sarah was speaking on TV at the weekend when she appearing on BBC One's Politics North West with presenter Annabel Tiffin.
The Congleton Labour MP, who took over the seat at the General Election last year from former Conservative MP, Fiona Bruce, was quizzed about the WhatsApp group by the presenter.
She said it was 'disgraceful' and underlined the fact the Labour Party would carry on delivering what it had set out to do in its manifesto.
Gorton and Denton MP Andrew Gwynne made comments in the group which cost him his job and Burnley MP Oliver Ryan has also been suspended from the party as revealed by sister site, Stockport Nub News here .

The Gorton and Denton MP was sacked as a junior health minister and suspended from the Labour Party after he apologised for 'badly misjudged' comments he made in the group. He now represents the constituency as an independent.
Burnley MP Oliver Ryan has also been suspended from the party, apologising for his involvement in the group.
Stockport Nub News said a source familiar with the group and the contents of its messages says there were between 15 and 20 members. It's believed membership comprised Mr Gwynne, Mr Ryan, Labour councillors who represented wards which fell under his old constituency of Denton and Reddish, and some Labour activists.
It added the group was not created to be a 'social' chat, but instead organise day-to-day voluntary tasks, such as leafleting. Some '99 percent' of the messages in the WhatsApp group related to co-ordinating campaigns and updating members on the contents of constituency Labour party (CLP) meetings.
